A Quick Posture Test

 

Growing up, you always heard about your posture- whether it was your teacher telling to sit up straight in class, or your mother telling you not to slouch at the dinner table.  But what exactly is posture and why is it so important?

Posture is the position we hold our bodies, whether it is standing or sitting down.  It allows our body parts to be correctly aligned and supported by the right amount of muscle tension against gravity, according to the American Chiropractic Association.  Without posture and muscle control, we would fall to the ground, the ACA notes. Additionally, poor posture can cause fatigue, neck pain, backaches, and headaches.
